It's always such a treat to be invited to talk to a group of people interested in hearing about the research that went into my novel, Prince George & Master Frederick. It was a thrill to give a zoom talk in July to members of the Society of Genealogists' Book Group.  A rare thing to talk directly to people who've read the book already and could comment on the content; but it was great to be able to show them the images I've compiled to illustrate the story of Master Frederick Blomberg and his half brother Prince George.

There are more talks coming up this autumn. Most of them are for member groups - history societies, literary societies, women's groups and book groups. But one is open to the public; so, if you'd like to make your way to Evesham in October, I'll be giving the 'after lunch' talk at the Evesham Festival of Words at Holland House, Cropthorne near Pershore in Worcestershire on Friday 9th October. ​A surprising and very pleasant aspect of writing a book is being invited to give talks at fascinating place. I was delighted to be invited to give a talk about Prince George & Master Frederick at Dr Johnson's House. Dr Johnson was an astounding polymath of his time and is responsible for compiling the first English dictionary. He and his band of lexicographers, spent years in the attic space of this lovely old house poring over words and definitions. He famously said: "He who is tired of London is tired of life." 

The house is tucked away in Gough Gough Square, through one of the many narrow alley ways from Fleet Street.  Dr Johnson was around at the same time as many of the characters in my book so it felt very fitting to have the chance to tell the story of King George III, King George IV and Master Frederick Blomberg in such a perfect setting to a room filled with a very attentive audience.
