The jacket of Prince George & Master Frederick features two portraits by the court artist Richard Brompton. They show Prince George aged eight and Frederick Blomberg aged about nine. The paintings were commissioned by Queen Charlotte. The portrait of Prince George (wearing Garter Robes) hangs in the 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace. The portrait of Frederick Blomberg, with his greyhound shows Buckingham House (as it was in his day) in the background.

This sketch of Frederick Blomberg was made by the court painter, Hugh Douglas Hamilton in the summer of 1769 when Queen Charlotte commissioned the artist to make portraits of all her family. Frederick's portrait shows a thoughtful little boy with a sketch of a violin just below the figure. Frederick was a very talented musician and became renowned for his prowess on the
violin and cello.
The portrait was recently acquired by the Royal Collection Trust and is now owned by His Majesty King Charles III.
It's a pleasure to know that it is tucked up in a box, with the other portraits of the King and Queen and Princes George, Frederick, William and Edward in the
Print Room at Windsor Castle.
Frederick's portrait is now back with his family.
